“On this day 49 years ago, the Doctor first appeared on TV screens across the UK. 10 regenerations and nearly 800 episodes later and Doctor Who remains the longest running and most successful sci-fi TV show in the world!”
The future is already here, I'm just trying to aggregate it.
I’ve heard a lot of complaining from my US friends about NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. BBC’s online coverage has been really good. You can stream just about any event going on. The problem is that if you’re outside the UK you can’t stream the Olympics. So here’s what you do:
Go download TunnelBear, which is a free app (up to 500 megs a month). This app creates a VPN that you can switch between the US and the UK. We use it all the time to watch Hulu from here in the UK.
After you’ve downloaded the app go to BBC’s live coverage site. That’s it.
If 500 megs isn’t enough, TunnelBear has a $5 a month, unlimited, option called Giant TunnelBear. With Giant, you also have the option of using the iPad and iPhone apps.
Some of you may have other VPN options, but this is the one I’ve been using and evangelizing. I get no incentive for this BTW, I just really like the service.
First off this is a great interview (like most Whedon interviews are).
Second, this is a hilarious backhanded insult:
Wired: By the time you got to Dollhouse you had exterior shots!
Whedon: I know, woo hoo. It was still pretty rough sledding budgetarily with Dollhouse. There are definitely a few things in there that look like the BBC.
